What is JMT/400 (Journal ManagemenT/400)?

JMT/400 is an exciting new Auditor's Dream JOURNAL MANAGEMENT UTILITY for the IBM iSeries platform. This tool gives the auditors/systems operations people the ability to automatically search through journal receivers looking at all changes/adds/deletes to a specific INVOICE or a range of specific data elements in any file being journaled. Memorized Reports are supported and can run off the IBM Job Scheduler.

The control of the system is at both the journal and file level. Users of the system can be both MIS professionals and END Users, because of the frontend interface built much like simple Query menus. This will allow END Users such as auditors/managers of accounting/warehouse/ manufacturing the ability to see what happened to a specific order/invoice during it's life on the system.

The utility provides a command interface that you simply run daily out of your job scheduler, to (optionally) do all the journal management automatically. Journals under JMT/400s management are automatically loaded with any new information of files being journaled. Journal receivers that have been saved are deleted to recover and manage disk space.

Programming changes can be analyzed with the same tools as well as reports that are provided to statistically look at the number of real and dummy updates hitting the files within selected journals.

REQUIREMENTS

OS/400 5.1.0 or higher
Files journaled with Before and After Images selected
SRN/400 (Sort Data Now/400) an INPRO International, Inc. Product installed and unlocked.

ADDLIBLE JMTEXE
Issue the GO JMTMNU Command.
RUN the CHGJMT option (or submit to Batch) to initially load the control files on the system with all journals and journal files (saves keying).
NOTE:On large systems submitting this to Batch will keep your friends.
(Optionally) place the command JMTEXE/CHGJMT and JMTEXE/CLNJRNRCV in your automatic job scheduler system. (see sample code) These commands reload the control files assuming a new file may have had journaling started and make that available automatically to the users. The CLNJRNRCV removes old saved journal receivers that pass the date of the last savlib date of the library where the physical file is located.
NOTE:Old journal receivers can be restored for processing, if the date in question was not available in the journal receivers now on the system. JMT/400 uses the date range selected on all queries to march back the journal receiver chains looking for activity on the data selected by the user.
Ensure that the JMTDB database library of JMT/400 is backed up on at least a weekly basis.

WRKJOBSCDE Jobs Added by SCDSPCRPT Command

NOTE:These Jobs are placed on the Job Scheduler by running Selection-11 off the main JMTMNU. The Jobs corresspond to the day of week you selected in the Memoried Report Definition. This one job picks up all scheduled Monday Definitions etc.

NOTE:Use these field selections to reduce the size of a specfic report down to the critical fields your looking at, or don't select any fields and the SHWCHGS report on this file will show ALL fields. As fields are selected they appear to move to the top window. Delete/Remove moves them back. The roll keys are active for the additional fields.

SELECTION-1/OPTION-2 Edit Journal Information

NOTE:DO NOT put a journal under JMT/400's control if your applications are doing RCVJRNE from the current receiver. You can still run your queries against your receivers. This is due to the inability of JMT/400 to gain a lock to generate a new receiver for the journal.

NOTE:Numeric fields require the field exit key to be depressed to RIGHT JUSTIFY the field. After your last field selection criteria is entered the Job is submitted to Batch without any notification, look for your Job to be running in Batch now....

SELECTION-5 Print Journal STATs off Main JMTMNU

NOTE:This subfile is loaded with data from the initial CHGJMT command issued after installation. The only selectable field is the date field, this specifies how wide a period of time is to be used for calculating the statistics.

OPTION-1 File Selection

NOTE:The F6 function key will allow you to select all files to be analyzed within the journal. This may be the way to go until you have some experience in selecting your reports.

NOTE:Pressing enter without setting a transaction date or range will produce a report from the *CURRENT receiver. Setting this date earlier in time will cause JMT/400 to march back in the receiver chain. The *LIBL(library list) at the time of this command being executed will be used to hunt for programs referred to in the subsequent reports. The program will be listed even if the *LIBL is incomplete. The actual print job will be submitted to batch. Use the WRKSBMJOB command to check on your outputs status. After your last selection criteria is entered the Job is submitted to Batch without any notification, look for your Job to be running in Batch now....

UNLOCK PRODUCT

TRIALs of this product work 10 times, then this command must be run to unlock this application permanently on your system. Obtain the code from INPRO International, Inc. product support. SRN/400 must also be UNLOCKED.
